What is Evangelism?

Sharing the Gospel is called evangelism. It can refer to the zealous championing of any cause but is most commonly applied to Christian idea of spreading the Lord’s word. While it  isn’t mentioned a lot in the Bible, the writers of all four gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are sometimes called evangelists. At its most basic, evangelism is teaching the gospel with the aim to persuade. This includes the whole spectrum of communication, from neighbors chatting over coffee to a pastor preaching to hundreds of congregants. If called, your duty is to minister not just to your own soul but to the souls of everyone you encounter by evangelizing about God’s purpose.
