“The Rapture” is an event referenced multiple times in the Bible, especially in the New Testament. Many Christians believe the Rapture involves the second coming of Jesus Christ, and it will occur in two parts. The first part will entail Jesus coming for all believers—both living and dead—in the Rapture. This will be secret, with all true believers meeting Christ in the air and achieving salvation. This is explained in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17:
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
The second part of Jesus’ second coming occurs directly after the Rapture as all unbelievers are left on Earth for a 7-year period known as the Tribulation. This period will be a time of great suffering for those who do not believe, as there will be wars, natural disasters, famine, disease, and devastation on a level unseen by our planet. But who spreads the gospel after the Rapture?
God never leaves Himself without witnesses to spread His love and the life-saving message of the gospel. According to the Book of Revelation, there will be 4 groups of witnesses that will spread the gospel up until the very end of time. These groups include:
These witnesses will continue to try to save the Children of God still remaining on Earth during the Tribulation, since it is never too late for someone to be saved. At the end of the Tribulation, Jesus will return to Earth with His church and the saints who were raptured. He will be victorious over His enemies and over evil. He will then reign on the Earth for 1,000 years—referred to as “the millennium”—with His saints and His church.
