Reasons Why Evangelism Is Important

• Following Jesus’s Teachings - Jesus is the first—and greatest—evangelist. He dedicated His life to helping others and spreading love throughout the world. He also taught His followers that He wanted them to do the same, so that every person on Earth could come to God and experience His love. Evangelizing is embodying what Jesus did during His life and continuing to carry out His mission.

• Saving Others - By evangelizing and following in Jesus’s footsteps, you also help others to achieve salvation. As mentioned earlier, evangelism is focused on spreading the gospel to unbelievers—people who do not believe in Christ or His message. Trying to teach them is a direct act of love since bringing them to Christ and God will help them avoid damnation and gain eternal life.

• Connecting With Others - Love is a central part of the Bible, but it is especially important in all of Jesus’s teachings. Love is one of the best ways that we can serve God, and we can show love through connecting with others. Evangelizing involves finding a common ground with people and creating a bond with them. It also involves accepting them where they are and not judging them, even if they are disrespectful or unwilling to listen. Those are the times we must especially let Jesus’s love fill our hearts and work toward creating a union with those people through that love.
